Powering Progress across the UK

Turning data expertise into economic impact

Since 2018, the National Innovation Centre for Data has generated £141 million in additional value for the UK economy, helping organisations unlock the potential of data and AI to improve productivity, develop new solutions and build valuable skills. Our independent Economic Impact Report, carried out by Ortus Economic Research Ltd, reveals the scale of that contribution, from supporting more than 180 collaborative projects to creating jobs and strengthening the UK’s data and AI capabilities.

Creating lasting value for the North East and beyond

By 2036, our economic contribution is projected to reach £1.2 billion, with £1.1 billion expected to be generated in the North East. The report shows how our collaborative approach is creating lasting value by transferring skills, attracting investment and helping organisations build the capabilities they need to make better use of data and AI long after individual projects have ended.
